Apple Inc.’s chief executive replied to a wave of negative attention to conditions at overseas factories that build its products, expression the insinuation that Apple doesn’t aid virtually the welfare of its workers is “offensive.”
“Unfortunately, some people are questioning Appleās values today,” Tim Fix wrote in an e-mail to Apple employees. “Any accident is deep troubling, and any issue with working weather is cause for concern.”
A series of articles in the Young York Times has took new focus on Apple’s highly profitable product strategy, which relies heavily on Chinese workers who live in dormlike factories and drop many hours assembling devices. The safety records and working conditions in those factories experience been questioned, and Apple’s labour practices had intense scrutiny in 2010, when more than a dozen workers at Chinese iPhone floras committed suicide.
The afterwards Young York Times article quoted previous Apple and Foxconn employees saying that Apple prioritized profit and production swiftness above worker welfare.
The companionship was trying to address problems in its factories, one of the sources said, merely nearly people would yet exist actually disturbed if they considered where their iPhone comes from.
In Cook’s note, first published by 9to5Mac, he enounced that Apple was a world leader in improving overseas working conditions, and will continue to shape difficult to observe and cook problems.
“We will continue to shaft deeper, and we will undoubtedly notice more issues,” Make wrote. “What we will not do and never get done is tolerate yet or bit a blind eye to problems in our provide chain. On this you experience my word.”
